Broadway Talent, Tony Nominees

Our nationally renowned musical theatre degree program has launched hundreds of successful careers. UNC musical theatre alumni have appeared in more than 50 Broadway productions, including Wicked and Jersey Boys. Dozens more have starred in national touring shows, off-Broadway productions and regional theatres, as well as in television, film and web projects.

You’ll get first-class, conservatory-style training in UNC’s musical theatre program, learning from experienced industry pros—including guest artists from New York, L.A. and elsewhere. With more than 30 shows a year, we offer a wealth of performing opportunities—and you can earn roles as a freshman, instead of waiting years for your chance. You’ll learn in small classes that include lots of one-on-one coaching, with top-flight instruction in voice, acting and dance. Polish your stage skills and showcase your talent in one of the nation’s most highly regarded musical theatre bachelor’s degree programs.

Degree Option

B.F.A. in Musical Theatre

Admission to the musical theatre bachelor’s degree program is by audition only. This is a highly competitive program that recruits nationally. You’ll take multiple courses in voice, acting and dance, while building pre-professional skills such as audition techniques, script analysis, scene study and improvisation.

There’s no limit to what you can do with a musical theatre bachelor’s degree from UNC. Our annual Senior Showcase in New York attracts agents, casting directors and other industry professionals, giving you outstanding exposure in front of a highly influential audience. Our graduates perform all over the world in theatres, film productions, cruise ships, theme parks and other venues.

Beyond the Classroom

UNC stages more than 30 productions a year, giving you an extremely broad range of opportunities to showcase your skills. You can audition for roles beginning in your first year. In addition to performing during the academic year, you can take the stage alongside industry professionals in UNC’s’ Little Theatre of the Rockies, a top-notch summer stock program that draws talent from across the country.
