About

Karisa Odrunia is a Doctoral Candidate in the School Psychology program at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). She earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology with minors in Criminal Justice and Neuroscience from UNLV before pursuing her doctoral studies. Her clinical and research interests focus on the mental health and academic outcomes of Asian American youth, particularly in relation to experiences of racial, ethnic, and xenophobic bullying in schools. Her clinical experiences span across school, hospital, private practice, and university settings where she has provided individual and group therapy, conducted psychological assessments, and delivered diagnostic evaluations for children, adolescents, and adults. Her interventions are grounded in evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), with a strong emphasis on culturally responsive care. In her free time, she enjoys collecting Funko Pops, going to the gym, unwinding with video games, and exploring new foodie spots with friends. She also engages in mindfulness through art, writing, and music.
