Classified Staff Council

Established in 1973, the Classified Staff Council's primary purpose is to be the United Voice of UNC's Classified Staff.  The Classified Staff Council has represented UNC's classified staff now for over 50 years!

Mission

Our mission is to represent, inform, and educate classified and professional exempt staff by serving as a liaison between employees across the UNC campus, the university system, and state administration. In addition, our group recommends proposals to administration that are designed to improve morale and advocate for the rights of staff employees.

CSC is a group of elected and appointed classified staff members who work to provide fellow staff members with information on topics ranging from legislative affairs to current events on campus. CSC members represent staff through representation in a variety of working groups, task forces, and campus committees. We want to help make our work environment as pleasant as possible.

If you want to know more about CSC functions, or are interested in becoming a CSC representative, you are welcome to attend one of our monthly meetings. These meetings are currently the second Wednesday of each month in the UC Council room. These meetings are open to all members of the campus community to attend, join a committee, or become a full-fledged member.

Membership

The Classified Staff Council has up to 25 elected or appointed members from across campus, each of whom serves a two-year term.  Membership is open to any permanent UNC classified employee, and elections are held yearly in accordance with our Constitution and Bylaws.  Additionally, one representative from each of the other campus governance groups is invited to serve on the CSC for a one-year term. These ex-officio members are appointed by their respective groups.
