Application Information

LEAP Program Application

A completed application is required to be considered for a spot in the program. The priority deadline to apply is March 1, 2018 but the application will remain open until August 1, 2018. The application consists of a few demographic questions and three short answer questions and should only take you about 20 minutes to complete.

The LEAP program is a tremendous opportunity for all underserved students working towards an undergraduate degree in biology or chemistry with an emphasis in pre-health. An underserved student is defined as a student who is first-generation, a student of color, or students eligible for Pell grants. If you identify with one or more of these demographics we encourage you to apply.

Peer Mentor Application

Thinking about becoming a peer mentor? A peer mentor is a rewarding opportunity to pay it forward and help a fellow LEAP student in the upcoming 2018 cohort. If you have a desire to help people, received a C or better in BIO 110, BIO 111, CHEM 111, and CHEM 112, and have a 2.0 or higher cumulative GPA please consider applying. To apply, please submit a resume and cover letter by February 1, 2018. In your cover letter please include the following:

  • Why do you want to be a peer mentor?
  • What attributes do you feel a great peer mentor should have?
  • Tell us why you would make a great peer mentor.

Contact the LEAP Project Coordinator, Cynthia Hanevik for more details.
