Position Summary

As our Senior Accountant you will be primarily responsible for managing endowment funds including gifts and related pledges, investment allocations and distribution of funds to the University for scholarships and other purposes while ensuring that donor intentions are effectively communicated. As a member of a cohesive team, you will also have the opportunity to participate, and contribute in other ways to help us effectively perform our critical organizational roles. Reporting directly to the Controller, key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate and complete monthly and quarterly closing procedures including journal entries and preparation of combined financial reports.
  • Manage and maintain the endowment database including distributions, investment earnings, and management fees and establishing new funds when needed.
  • Maintain components of the University’s scholarship management system and work with university staff to effectively communicate donor intent and provide related support.
  • Reporting - Assist in preparation of organizational financial statements and provide other reports.
  • Manage, maintain, and utilize processes, systems, procedures, and controls associated with general and subsidiary accounting ledgers and data management.
  • Participate in projects and assist with other required functions to meet organizational objectives.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • 5 years relevant experience
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel skills including Pivot tables, VLOOKUPS and similar formulas
  • Ability to work, collaborate and communicate effectively in a team structure.
  • Aptitude, flexibility, a strong desire to learn, attention to detail, and intense curiosity are preferred.

Compensation

This is a full-time position with a salary range of $62,100 to $87,900, DOE.
