John Schmidt

Director

John currently serves as Co-Founder and Co-CEO of WeFi Technology Group, a global leading provider of IT finance solutions. In this role, he defines the vision and strategy for WeFi. John has extensive experience in banking and finance having spent more than 40 years in these industries. His experience also includes more than 24 years of experience in international banking and finance. The majority of his career has been spent in technology channel finance.

In 2004, John co-founded Castle Pines Capital, which was sold to Wells Fargo Bank in 2011. He continued to serve as the Head of Supply Chain Finance with Wells Fargo Bank until December of 2016. He then went on to found WeFi Technology Group as well as JAM Capital, a private equity firm.

John holds a BS in finance from the University of Northern Colorado and has served his alma mater as a previous member of the Foundation Board of Directors (2009-2012) as well as a member of the Kenneth W. Monfort College of Business' (MCB) Dean's Leadership Council (2007-2018) and a charter member of the Roundball X Club, supporting UNC's men's basketball program. While on the Foundation Board, John served as a member of the Investment Committee from 2010-2012. John and his wife, Angela, were recognized as Honored Alumni in 2023. 

In addition to his work in banking, finance, and service to UNC, John is a dedicated volunteer and advocate for education. He served for ten years (2014-2024) as a member of the board of trustees for Regis Jesuit High School, including service as board chair. During this time, he focused on roles as a fiduciary steward as well as a donor and outspoken advocate for the misson of Regis, leading to successful campaigns for several transformational projects.

John resides in Castle Pines, CO with his wife Angela, and they have two adult children, John Jr. and Michael.
