Professional/Academic Experience

Hello! My name is Rodolfo (Rudy) Vargas. I was born in Matamoros Coahuila, Mexico, and I am the Coordinator of the DREAMer Engagement Program and Undocumented Student Services at UNC. I moved to the US at the age of 12, and Greeley has been my home since 2003. I graduated from Greeley Central High School, and then UNC, where I studied Spanish. I am very passionate about my native language and I love writing poetry. I am currently in the Master of Public Health program through the Colorado School of Public Health at UNC, and I am involved with different organizations on and off campus. I currently live with my wife Carla whom I met at UNC, and our dog Tequila. My goal is to “be the person I needed when I was younger”.

 ¡Hola! Me llamo Rodolfo (Rudy) Vargas. Nací en Matamoros Coahuila, Mexico, y soy el Coordinador del “DREAMer Engagement Program” y servicios para estudiantes indocumentados. Me mudé a este país a la edad de 12 años y he residido en Greeley desde 2003. Me gradué de la preparatoria Greeley Central, y después obtuve una licenciatura de español de la UNC. Me encanta mi idioma y escribir poesía. Actualmente estoy en el programa de Maestría de Salud Pública en UNC, y estoy involucrado con diferentes organizaciones dentro y fuera de nuestra institución. Actualmente vivo con mi esposa Carla a quien conocí en UNC, y nuestro perro Tequila. Mi meta es “ser la persona que yo necesité cuando era más joven”.
