Governor Appoints Kevin Ahern to UNC Board of Trustees

Gov. John Hickenlooper has announced the appointment of Kevin Ahern of Morrison to the University of Northern Colorado Board of Trustees, the university's governing body.

Ahern will replace Susan E. Carparelli, who resigned after relocating to Nashville, Tenn., and serve her remaining term through Dec. 31, 2015.

Ahern is president and CEO of CIC Bancshares Inc., a bank holding company in Denver. He's also chairman of the board for Centennial Bank, a commercial bank with nine locations in Colorado. He has more than 25 years of experience in banking and financial services industry.

Ahern earned a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from UNC in 1985 and an MBA from the University of Connecticut in 1991. He has been involved with UNC for 21 years. His volunteer experience over that span includes service on the UNC Foundation Board and chair of the foundation's investment committee. He's the current chair of the Business Dean's Advisory Council, where he's served since 2007. He also taught a finance class as visiting faculty in 2007.
