The University of Northern Colorado will officially turn 125 years old next month, and the countdown is on - literally - at www.unco.edu/125.
The new website will serve as the central hub for the commemoration, beginning on charter day April 1 and running through Spring Commencement of 2015. The site, which currently displays a countdown to UNC's birthday, will include a message from UNC President Kay Norton, a university timeline from 1889 to present, then-and-now photos and video, a list of traditions, ways to get involved through events such as convocation and homecoming, downloads featuring a 125th logo, wallpapers and screensavers, and university plans for the future.
UNC began as the State Normal School on April 1, 1889, when Gov. Job A. Cooper signed a bill creating Colorado's first teacher training institution.
