Student's Research Reveals Risk of Noise Exposure at Hockey Games
Sean Hoverson has attended hundreds of hockey games. Like most fans, the University of Northern Colorado Doctor of Audiology candidate didn’t wear hearing protection, nor did he recognize the need. Conducted over a season of Colorado Eagles games, his doctoral scholarly project, “Spectator Noise Exposures During a Season of Minor League Hockey,” revealed the risk.

Andrew Alirez, Sports and Excercise Science Major, was voted the 2023 Big 12 Wrestler of the Year by league coaches after completing a 28-0 season that was highlighted by a Big 12 title as well as an individual national title.

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was passed 33 years ago this month, on July 26, 1990. Among other things, the law made it illegal to discriminate against individuals with disabilities in all areas of public life, ensuring they have the same rights and opportunities as everyone else. While much progress has been made over the past 30-plus years, many argue it's not enough as people with disabilities remain overrepresented among America’s poor and uneducated. It’s a disparity with far-reaching implications as chances are you either are someone living with a disability or know someone who is.
