Minimum Admission Requirements

Below is a list of Minimum Requirements applicants should meet before considering to seek admissions to the Graduate School and International Admissions at the University of Northern Colorado. Please check out our How to Apply webpage for application requirements.

Bachelor's Degree

A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or University or a comparable degree from a foreign

3.0 GPA

A grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale on the most recent 60 credit hours completed.

Test Scores

If applicable, take a standardized test: GRE, GMAT or MCAT, DAT, OAT, PCAT

Minimum GRE Score:

  • 140 Quantitative
  • 146 Verbal Reasoning
  • Combined score of at least 297
  • Analytic Writing 3.5

The Educational Testing Service (ETS) code for the University of Northern Colorado is R4074.

Official Transcripts

Request one official transcript from every accredited college or university attended or from which you earned credit, except UNC. Official transcripts from each college are required, even if courses taken at one institution are listed on another schools transcript. This includes concurrent enrollment courses taken while in high school through an accredited college. You do not need to provide study abroad transcripts. Official transcripts may be sent via mail in an unopened sealed envelope or through an electronically secure digital program directly from the issuing institution. Mailed transcripts should be sent to UNC Graduate School and International Admissions, 501 20th Street, Campus Box 135, Greeley, CO 80639. Electronic transcripts should be sent to grad.applicationmaterials@unco.edu. We do not accept email, scanned or PDF transcripts directly from the student.

Applicants with academic credentials from outside the US will need to follow the requirements for submission of foreign transcripts that apply to international applicants

Letters of recommendation

Check with the program you are seeking admission from to identify if letters of recommendations are required.

Most masters programs require letters of recommendation as well. Check with your program to determine if they require letters of recommendation and if they accept the Graduate School Letter of Recommendation form.

Letters of Recommendation are required for Doctoral and Interdisciplinary degree program applicants. Obtain three letters of recommendation from persons who can attest to your academic potential and abilities.

Departmental Requirements

Items that could be requested by individual programs are a statement of purpose, writing samples, portfolios, etc.
