FAD is celebrated on the third Wednesday in October. The first FAD was celebrated on Oct. 20, 2010, within the financial aid community. It has since been recognized by the Board of Directors for the National Association of Financial Aid Administrators as part of ongoing national efforts to promote financial aid awareness.

The majority of UNC's students rely on some type of financial assistance in order to attend.  In fact, over 90% of UNC’s first time, full-time student received some type of financial assistance.

As a reminder, students should complete the 2024-25 Free Application Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as it opens in December 2023.  Also, the fall 2024 UNC Scholarship Application opens Nov. 1.
