The 2024-25 FAFSA will not be opening until sometime in December 2023, which is later than the Oct. 1 open date in recent years. While the FAFSA open date is later than usual, there will be fewer questions that a family will need to answer once it does open. Additionally, families this year will be required instead of encouraged to authorize a data exchange of information between the IRS and FAFSA to successfully submit the FASFA. 

With the December 2023 open date for the FAFSA, UNC will be projecting to make aid offers for incoming students in April 2024. Continuing students should look for their aid offers after spring 2024 grades are posted in May of 2024. The UNC scholarship application will open Nov. 1, 2023 and has a priority deadline of Feb. 1, 2024.
