Dining Services has special events and monotony breakers happening throughout the entire year. Here's a sampling of a few of the bigger events!

August

Fall Opening Weekend
Thursday - Sunday, August 18 - 21, 2011
- Complimentary refreshments are provided for students and their families at Tobey-Kendel Dining Room & Holmes Dining Hall on Thursday during move-in
- Meal plans become active at dinner on Thursday at Holmes Dining Hall, Tobey-Kendel Dining Room & the UC Food Court
- Dining Dollars will be active starting Thursday
- Fall 2011 Opening Weekend schedule
Taste of UNC
Friday, August 19, 2011
- Location: Turner Green (lawn area between Turner and Lawrenson Halls on West Campus)
- Time: 5:00pm - 7:00pm
  - All dining rooms are closed at dinner... please join us at the Taste of UNC event
- Students use their meal plans during this event... and guests are welcome to join us at the special cash price of $5.00 (tax included).

September

Labor Day
Monday, September 5, 2011

Holmes Dining Hall & Tobey-Kendel Dining Room are both open for Brunch and Dinner (instead of breakfast, lunch, and dinner)
The UC Food Court, Bears Bistro, and all Gourmet to Go locations are CLOSED
All Retail Dining locations will be CLOSED as well

Rosh Hashanah
Wednesday - Friday, September 28 - 30, 2011
- begins at sundown (dinner) on Wednesday, September 28th
- ends at nightfall (dinner) on Friday, September 30th
Homecoming Kick-Off Dinner
Wednesday, September 21, 2011
- Join us for a special Homecoming Kick-Off dinner!
Homecoming Brunch
Saturday, September 24, 2011
- Brunch available at Holmes Dining Hall & Tobey-Kendel Dining Room, 11:00am - 1:00pm
- (Adult/Child $7.00 per person, tax included)

World Vegetarian Day
Saturday, October 1, 2011
- Special vegetarian Items served: brunch and dinner in Holmes Dining Hall & Tobey-Kendel Dining Room
Family and Friends Weekend
Friday - Sunday, October 21 - 23, 2011
- Special Prime Rib Brunch available at Holmes Dining Hall & Tobey-Kendel Dining Room (special tickets available through the UC Ticket Office), 11:00am - 1:00pm
- Dinner available at Holmes Dining Hall & Tobey-Kendel Dining Room, 5:00pm-7:00pm
- Guest are welcome to join us for the special cash price of $7.00 per person (tax included)

Thanksgiving Brunch

Thanksgiving Break
Tuesday, November 22, 2011 - Sunday, November 27th

Dining Rooms
- Holmes, TK, the UC Food Court, and Bears Bistro will close after Lunch on Tuesday, November 22nd.
- Holmes and TK will re-open for Dinner on Sunday, November 27th. The UC Food Court and Bears Bistro will re-open for normal hours on Monday, November 28th.
Retail Dining
- All locations will be closed Thursday, November 24th - Saturday, November 26th. Please see the schedule for details on exactly which operations will be open during the rest of Thanksgiving Break.
