Dining Services ~ A Guide To Student Employment

Work Authorizations must be obtained prior to attending an interview at any of the Dining Rooms, Cash Operations, or Catering. Please be sure to bring the work authorization with you to your interview.

Work Authorizations are available at Carter Hall through Student Employment located on the main floor. To obtain a Work Authorization you will need to bring with you; current legal picture identification as well as your social security card or birth certificate. If you are an international student, you will need to additionally bring your current visa with you as well.

Work Authorizations are available anytime after August 15th in the Fall Semester of any academic year and are valid through May 14th in the Spring Semester of any academic year.

If you plan to work at any of the Dining Rooms, Cash Operations, or Catering Department through the summer academic session you will need to obtain a summer work authorization. The same process as during the academic year needs to be followed to obtain a Work Authorization for the Summer Session. Summer Work Authorizations are not available until May 15th and are valid through August 14th.

Remember, if you plan to return to any of the Dining Services operations for the academic year, you will need to obtain a Work Authorization available August 15th for the academic year.

Renewal of Work Authorizations

Work Authorizations are only valid for one academic year and/or one summer session. Each session that you plan to return to work in any of the Dining Services operations, a new Work Authorization must be obtained. Each time you obtain a new Work Authorization you will need to bring with you; current legal picture identification as well as your social security card or birth certificate. If you are an international student, you will need to additionally bring your current visa with you as well.

A current Work Authorization will need to be presented to your Assistant Manager prior to being able to begin employment. This is true even though you are returning to a Dining Services operation that you have worked at in the past or over consecutive years.
