Page Parameters

Parameters can be used to control preconfigured aspects of a page, such as supplying meta tag content and keywords, as well as any custom settings that have been configured UNC templates. Examples of those settings are additional rows and columns on a page. Page parameters are accessed from the Page Properties view. In order to access Page Properties, the page must be checked out to you.

Accessing Page Parameters

In order to edit the metadata and configuration parameters for a page, Properties must be accessed.

  1. Navigate to the Pages List view and check out the page.
  2. Access the page parameters by one of two ways:
    • Hover over Edit in the page row and choose Properties.
      Access properties via pagelist
    • Click on the linked path for the page, and then click the Properties button on the Page Actions toolbar.
Access properties via page action toolbar

Title and Meta Tags

The first area of Page Parameters contains the Title and Meta Tags heading, which contains the following:

  • Title: Allows you to create a user-friendly name for the page that is used to identify the content in the OU Campus CMS, and is used for the title of the page that appears in a browser. The title is important for search engine optimization (SEO) and should be limited to about 55 characters. The most important words to describe the page should be first, such as Support from UNC Web Communications.
  • Description: Allows you to provide a brief description of the page. This is also important for SEO and should contain words another user will enter into a search. The description should be limited to about 150 characters.
  • Keywords: User-defined keywords that are used in searches to help find content in UNC's search tool. Separate keywords by a comma.

  • Rows and Columns: Here you can set the numbers of rows/columns that are within your page. While the number of rows is limited to 6 that does not limit the amount of content that can be placed on the page.

Remember: You do not need to have the rows turned on sequentially. For example, you can have just rows 1 and 5 turned on.
Row 5 has the option to be colored
  • Gallery Type: If you have an Image gallery on the page, you can select which type of gallery displays using the "Gallery type" dropdown menu.
