Castle Rock, Colorado
My name is Hannah Rivera, I am a Mathematics major with a concentration in secondary education here at the University of Northern Colorado. I am a Colorado native, but I have never lived in the same place for long. Despite moving all over the state growing up, I consider Castle Rock, Colorado to be my home because I stayed in the school system from 6th grade up until graduation (I commuted from Littleton to Castle Rock my sophomore-senior year). I chose UNC because of the phenomenal education program, as well as the overall sense of community I felt throughout campus. UNC has become my home away from home, and has presented me with endless opportunities to succeed. I was ecstatic to be surrounded by peers just as passionate about mathematics -any field of study- as I am about my studies. UNC also has given me the opportunity to be taught by professors who challenge, support, and genuinely care about their students. I have found an amazing community overflowing with collaboration and encouragement here at UNC, and I am very proud to call myself a Bear!
1. I was born with 12 toes, one extra pinky toe on each foot (sadly, I had to get
them removed with I was young, but I have some cool scars).
2. I have 9 siblings, 2 sisters and 5 brothers.
3. I've watched through the How I Met Your Mother series too many times to count.
My favorite place on campus is the mathematics student lounge located on the second floor of Ross Hall. There are math equations painted all over the walls, as well as two large blackboards, a.k.a. my nerd haven.
