DESCRIPTION:The UNC Symphony Orchestra at the University of Northern Colorado is the premier orchestral ensemble in the School of Music\, renowned for its professional-level performances and artistic depth. Comprised of the university’s most talented undergraduate and graduate musicians\, the orchestra serves as a cornerstone of the Greeley arts community and a training ground for the next generation of symphonic leaders. Under the direction of Dr. Andrés Felipe Jaime\, this orchestra performs a wide range of repertoire\, from the massive symphonic works of the Romantic era to cutting-edge contemporary compositions.

SUMMARY:Guest Artist Recital: Grigo Khachatryan\, piano
DESCRIPTION:Born in Yerevan\, Armenia\, Dr. Grigor Khachatryan began his musical studies at Barsej Kanachyan’s Music School of Yerevan\, where he studied under the passionate guidance of Nina Khachatryan. At the age of 15\, he moved to the United States and continued his musical development at the esteemed Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University under the tutelage of distinguished professor of piano\, Luba Edlina-Dubinsky\, where he earned his bachelor’s\, master’s\, and performer diploma degrees in piano performance. In addition\, Khachatryan holds a doctorate degree in piano performance\, composition\, and music theory from the Jacobs School of Music where he also served as junior faculty of piano during his graduate studies.\nKhachatryan’s repertoire is populated with the brightest gems of the concert piano repertoire. Khachatryan made his debut in Carnegie Hall by special invitation from the Armenian General Benevolent Union of New York City.\nKhachatryan holds the position of associate professor of piano at Concordia College where he also serves as chair of the keyboard area and the director of the annual Concordia Piano Festival.

Under the direction of Dr. Fredrick Brown\, the group focuses on refining technical proficiency and artistic expression through a mix of cornerstone band classics and contemporary compositions. \nThe UNC Concert Band is the university’s most inclusive instrumental ensemble. While music majors may use it to gain experience on secondary instruments\, the group is primarily comprised of non-music majors from across the campus who wish to continue their musical journey in a supportive yet high-quality environment.
