Stephen Jordan is President Emeritus of Metropolitan State University of Denver where he served for 12 years. He previously served seven years as President of Eastern Washington University. Jordan's career spans 38 years in public post-secondary education and includes senior position in Colorado, Arizona, Kansas and Washington.
Jordan is the recipient of the Sol Trujillo National LIfetime Leadership Award from the Latin American Education Foundation, The Clair Van Ummersen Presidential Leadership Award from the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletics Administrators, the Civil Rights Award from the Anti-Defamation League and the Outstanding Support of Hispanic Issues in Higher Education from the American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education.
Jordan has served on numerous not for profit boards including Chairing the NCAA Division II Council of Presidents and Chairing the American Association of State Colleges and Universities.
Jordan is a 1971 graduate of the University of Northern Colorado earning a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. He also earned a Master of Public Administration from the University of Colorado Denver and a Doctor of Philosophy in Public Policy from the University of Colorado Graduate School. Jordan is also the recipient of an Honorary Doctorate and Professorate from the University of Pecs, Pecs, Hungary .
Jordans lives in Lafayette, Colorado with his wife Ruth. They have three children and six grandchildren.
