About Me

Year: Sophomore

Major/Minor: Music Education & Political Science

Involvement:I am the co-president of UNCo's chapter of ACDA (American Choral Director's Association). I am also the treasurer for STAD Collective and secretary for Operation: Cheesecake. I am also a member of SEAB (Student Equity Advisory Board) for STAD. I am on the PVA Recruitment Committee and the PVA Mission/Vision Statement Committee.

Why I want to be a part of Student Senate: I want to be a part of the Student Senate because I want to connect with more of the students at UNCo, hear their feedback, and work on improving the school to help benefit the students! I think it is incredibly important for there to be advocates for the students here and I want to be able to be a voice for the student body and encourage more students to become comfortable sharing their thoughts and experiences in PVA! I am a person of action, I love to be involved and help find solutions to problems and be a part of important discussions. I also want to become friends with the other driven, like-minded, passionate students on the student senate!

Qualities/Experiences: I am an active member of both the School of Music and the School of Theatre Arts and Dance and I am becoming friends with people in the School of Art and Design. I believe that with my involvement and friendships I will be able to provide a well-rounded perspective of PVA and be able to address problems and find solutions for all 3 schools. I am also very passionate, hard-working, driven, and creative and I take all of my responsibilities very seriously. I enjoy hearing other people's opinions and working with others to find solutions. I already hold leadership positions in SoM and STAD and so I have experience planning events, running meetings, looking at budgets, and am known and respected by the professors here. As a student of color, I also have a unique perspective as a student at UNCo and I am passionate about advocating for our current and future students of color!

2022-2023 Goals

My biggest goal is to create better connection between the three schools in PVA. During my time at UNCo the three schools feel isolated to each other and are unaware of the events happening in each of the schools. I would like to improve the communication between schools and also increase the attendance and support at each school's events! I would also like to increase students' participation with the student senate and with PVA administration, many students do not know how to share their voice or are afraid to and I want to create a safe and supportive space for them! Lastly, I would like to find and/or create opportunities for PVA to become involved with the rest of UNC to create more university-wide support and unity.
