Candidate for Senator - Performing & Visual Arts

She/Her/Hers

About Me

Year: Junior

Major/Minor: Theatre Arts - Design/Technology; German, Certificate in Arts Entrepreneurship

Involvement:I have a long history of involvement on campus, since my freshman year I have been a member of the Design Tech Student Association, and have now served on its board for two years as Secretary then as President. I have also participated in German Club and gone to events such as Stammtisch. I have worked on campus as a Theatrical Electrician since my second Freshman semester.

Why I want to be a part of Student Senate: I as a member of Student Senate, I can be a fighter for the Arts at UNC, something that enriches our university and community more than money can. As a multiracial trans woman, I also want to be an advocate to the communities I come from and other under-served and underrepresented groups.

Qualities/Experiences: I have excellent communication skills from my background in theatre, and I have been involved in various leadership positions for many years now. It is important to me to listen to others and to be able to admit when mistakes have been made. As an outsider, I can see things differently and ask informative, thought-provoking questions.

2022-2023 Goals

As PVA Senator, I will support equity, increases in arts funding, be honest, host accessible meetings, and increase UNC's climate accountability
