Center for Career Readiness

In-person Services Offered: Yes
The Center for Career Readiness will provide in-person services for drop-ins. Drop-ins are offered Monday through Friday from 12 - 3 p.m. Students seeking to meet with a Career Counselor during drop-ins simply need to check-in at the Student Affairs front desk (next to the Card Office). Students accessing drop-ins should expect to meet with a Career Counselor for 10 - 15 minutes. And students will be served on a first come, first serve basis.

Virtual Services Offered: Yes
The Center for Career Readiness will offer scheduled appointments in a virtual format. Appointments are available from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Schedule an appointment to meet with a Career Counselor can schedule an appointment through your Handshake account. Once an appointment has been scheduled a Career Counselor will email the student a link to meet via Teams. Appointments will be scheduled for 30 minutes.

Students/recent alumni seeking resume/CV and cover letter reviews can receive feedback in two ways:

  • By emailing career.readiness@unco.edu. Students and recent alumni will received feedback within one week of submitting their materials

In-Person Services Offered: YES

  • CHE participants will have the option to schedule either face-to-face or virtual appointments with CHE staff using a Microsoft Office Bookings link on our website.. CHE staff have created services that participants can select, and each service will have a face-to-face or virtual option. Participants can also call the CHE main office at (970) 351-1905 if they would prefer to schedule appointments with our front desk staff. 

Virtual Services Offered: YES

  • Virtual services include, but are not limited to: supplemental academic advising, peer writing tutoring, and support, peer and professional mentoring, financial aid assistance, office hours with CHE instructors, coaching related to various issues related to student success. Program engagement sessions will also take place virtually. Writing tutoring will only be available by scheduling a virtual appointment with a peer writing tutor, no face-to-face tutoring sessions are available at this time. The virtual sessions will use either Teams or Zoom, depending on what the participant is most comfortable using and depending on the capacity limitations of each platform. The CHE main office (L-116 Michener) will be available for participants who need a quiet place to study. The maximum capacity is limited to ten students at any given time, and students must wear CDC approved facial coverings. Students will have a dedicated workstation, equipped with hand sanitizer while studying in the CHE office. Students can reserve study spaces in one-hour increments by calling the CHE main office at 970-351-1905. The CHE staff is responsible for cleaning the workstation once it becomes available for the next participant. Participants will not be allowed to gather in the CHE main office between classes. There will be adequate signage notifying participants that masks are required in the CHE office. Three CHE professional staff will have hybrid work schedules, while the other two professional staff members work remotely.

Campus colleagues can reach CHE professional staff by email or phone. CHE Peer Academic Advisors, Tutors, and Mentors will provide their weekly schedules to their caseloads/tutees/mentees at the beginning of the fall semester. CHE professional and peer advisors will be scheduled in the office, on alternating days, to comply with university guidance. Each staff member has an individual office that meets the university‚Äôs social distancing guidelines. Offices will be sanitized after each face-to-face meeting, and common areas will be thoroughly cleaned every hour. Appointments will be scheduled on a staggered basis to limit congestion at our main desk; however, there is adequate space to meet social distancing guidelines as students wait for an advisor to greet them. Students will be asked to arrive at the CHE office no more than five minutes before their scheduled appointments. There is no need to call ahead of time unless the participant needs to reschedule. Students will have their temperatures checked at the time of check-in, and if they have a fever, they will be asked to reschedule. If students are not feeling well, please do not come to the office, call and reschedule for a later time.

  • Due to the counseling center's proximity to the Student Health Center, the UNC Counseling Center will primarily be offering virtual services.in order to eliminate the possibility of unintended exposure or transmission of COVID-19. Office sizes were also an issues as they are not large enough to create 6 feet between individuals.

Dean of Students Office

The DOS office is open and available for phone calls and drop-in assistance. Students who are wanting to come to the office in-person will need to stop at the Student Affairs hub to check in. This Hub desk is on the 2nd floor of the University. The Student Affairs hub staff will call the DOS in-person team to notify us that we have a walk in and we will meet students and escort them to the space.

Based on the size of the space, we can have 4-5 individuals in the space. Each day there will be 2-3 staff members in the space to assist students.

The NHS Advising Center will be staffed at 50% capacity each day (no more than 3 people) and will be open for appointments in-person Monday - Friday 8am-4pm. For in-person appointments, students must wear a mask, maintain 6 foot distance and will have their temperature taken upon arrival. If their temp is above 100.4 their appointment will be rescheduled.
