AP/IB/CLEP/Military Credit and Teacher Cadet Program

The University of Northern Colorado accepts transfer credit for qualifying scores on Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB). Please see below for additional information on transferability.

  • Advanced Placement (AP)

Any AP credit awarded may be used toward the 120-credit minimum requirement for college graduation. When you take the AP examination(s), request that your scores be sent to the UNC’s Office of Admissions. UNC will then evaluate your test scores for credit and you can view Degree Works to see if it has been applied.  If you’ve already taken the AP exam and would like your results sent to UNC, contact the College Board.

The credit hours will be counted as non-residency transfer work.

  • College-Level Examination Program (CLEP)

The University of Northern Colorado awards credit for the College Level Examination Program (CLEP) General and Subject Examinations to students who scored at or above the required score. A maximum of 30 credit hours can be applied toward the graduation requirement. The credit hours will be counted as non-residency transfer work.

The CLEP is administered through Career Services.

  • International Baccalaureate (IB)

Any IB credit awarded may be used toward the 120-credit-minimum requirement for college graduation. Here’s how:

Take the IB examination(s) and request that your scores be sent to the University of Northern Colorado’s Office of Admissions. IB exam dates can be found on the International Baccalaureate site. UNC will then evaluate your test scores and you can view Degree Works to see what has been approved.

The credit hours will be counted as non-residency transfer work.

Equivalencies are effective for students admitted the most recent fall term and later.

  •  Military Credit

A maximum of 30 semester hours of credit may be accepted for college-level courses taken under the auspices of the U.S. military services. Credit may also be awarded to veterans of military service who have successfully completed coursework at U.S. military service schools. A Joint Services Transcript (JST) or official military service school transcript must be submitted. These documents are evaluated by the Office of the Registrar according to recommendations from the American Council on Education in accordance with UNC guidelines.

The credit hours will be counted as non-residency transfer work.

Military coursework should be submitted to:

    UNC Office of the Registrar
    Campus Box 50
    Greeley, CO 80639

  • Teacher Cadet Program

Students who received a B or better in their Teacher Cadet coursework may request credit for fulfilling the Educational Foundations requirement in the Elementary, Secondary, and K-12 Professional Teacher Education Programs (PTEP). This awarded credit will, in effect, waive the required 3 credit hours of EDF 366 or EDF 370, depending on the PTEP program in which the student enrolls.

Teacher Cadet Program credit is counted as non-residency transfer work.

To request the EDF credit, please submit a legible copy of your Teacher Cadet Certificate of Completion (The Teacher Cadet Program Portfolio Review certificate) along with a high school transcript indicating the Teacher Cadet Program with grades of B or better to:
