Dear students, faculty, and staff,
This week November arrived and, in this month’s often dramatic fashion, brought the first snowfall of the year.
As we enter this season of gratitude and reflection, I want to acknowledge the hard work that our faculty and staff are doing to support students through this challenging semester. As I was reminded at our first Students First taskforce meeting this week, our commitment to student success is on full display every day at UNC.
I also want to acknowledge and celebrate our students’ tenacity. Every day our students overcome challenges to attend class, complete assignments, and pursue their degrees.
In the remaining five weeks of the fall semester, we will have many opportunities to continue to learn and grow in service to our students’ educational dreams. Inevitably, some students may face difficult circumstances for which advice and support will be needed.
In such cases, students should reach out directly to faculty for guidance and should keep in mind that we have incredible chairs, directors, deans, and advisors ready to help. For questions or concerns related to Covid-19, please see the UNC Covid-19 Update webpage. Students can also reach out to the Dean of Students, Dr. Colleen Sonnentag (dos@unco.edu).
Thank you for your dedication to making UNC a supportive educational community.
In gratitude,
Lisa
