In this online nursing program, you’ll gain specialized knowledge that prepares you for advanced clinical practice as an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP). This flexible online program offers a practical, affordable path to an Advanced Practice Nursing (APN) credential and national certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center or the American Association of Critical Care Nurses.
UNC’s graduate certificate program offers top-notch instruction and expert faculty, and places special emphasis on evidence-based practice. You’ll gain expertise in health promotion, assessment, diagnosis, monitoring, treatment and coordination of care in critically ill patients, with a focus on rural populations. With more than 500 hours of supervised clinical instruction, the program helps you build practical skills and first-hand experience. After completing this program and successfully passing a national certification exam, you'll be eligible for a range of opportunities within, and across, healthcare settings.

Post Master's Graduate Certificate: Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
This part-time, online graduate program prepares you to manage patients in acute care, critical care, specialty units, rehabilitation centers and long-term care facilities. You’ll acquire skills to deliver care to patients with critical, acute and chronic illnesses. The course sequence takes about 20 months to complete and includes four distinct practicums, totaling about 540 hours of clinical training.
