Application Process

Online MA SLP Program

Next Anticipated Application Deadline --- February 1, 2021
Applications may be accepted beginning October 1, 2020
(each cohort will enroll approximately 24-28 graduate students)

Submit the following items electronically to the Communication Sciences and Disorders Centralized Application Service (CSDCAS):
  • Application for Admission
  • Official transcripts from each college or university attended (including UNC).  UNC currently requires a 3.0 minimum grade point average for regular admission to a graduate program.
  • Graduate Record Examination (GRE) General Test Scores that are no more than five years old.  Please allow sufficient lead time when taking the GRE. The Designated Institution (DI) Code is 0033.
  • Three letters of recommendation, at least two of which must be from professors who can address your academic qualifications for graduate study.  The third may be from another professor or someone with whom you have worked professionally. Please use the online format provided by CSDCAS.
  • Audiology and Speech-Language Sciences Statement of Professional Goals (letter of intent).  Use the prompt provided by CSDCAS.

Submit the following item electronically to the UNC Graduate School:
  • Application for Admission

All application materials must be submitted and received by the application deadline for admission consideration.  Applicants who do not submit both applications (CSDCAS and UNC Graduate School) will not be considered for admission.

We expect to notify applicants of admission decisions by late March.

Strong applicants will have a solid background in communication disorders as well as science. Desired science courses include biology, chemistry, and human anatomy and physiology. Applicants from rural areas and those from minority backgrounds are especially encouraged to apply.
