Mia Kim Williams, Ph.D., is an associate professor of Curriculum Studies and Technology at UNC. Her research interests focus on critical and innovative pedagogy to support student innovation and development of creativity, critical thinking, design thinking and community engagement. She works with practicing and preservice teachers and doctoral students interested in promoting innovation in PK-20 educational environments and is coordinator of the Technology, Innovation and Pedagogy and Educational Technology Programs.
Her current projects include learners’ development of multimodal design, innovative pedagogical practices to promote student voice, and connected learning through the Global Minecraft Mentor Program. She is also working to develop a virtual reality educational software that supports student's visual-spatial learning of organic chemistry concepts in collaboration with chemistry education professors.
