Volunteers Needed for Waste Not Food Program

Volunteers are needed for the Waste Not Food program, a collaboration of the School of Teacher Education and Dining Services, to package and deliver leftover food from UNC's dining halls to the Salvation Army of Greeley and the Guadalupe Shelter every evening, seven days a week.

Current needs are for one team leader and two to three helpers at each dining hall. The leader is responsible for picking up packaging supplies at McKee 216 the day of their assignment to take them to the dining hall. The leader then guides helpers in packaging the food, drives it to the appropriate drop-off location and then returns any unused or newly cleaned packaging supplies returned by the drop-off locations to McKee 216 the next day. Hands-on leader training is provided.

Groups that wish to volunteer choose one night per week during a semester to provide the leader and helpers at a particular dining hall or both halls depending on the size of the group. Individuals who would like to join can sign themselves up for a night or nights.

For more information or to schedule leader training, please contact Lynette Kerrigan at lynette.kerrigan@unco.edu.
