A Letter From Joe

Hi neighbors!

I am the North Hall Faculty in Residence (FIR).  I look forward to getting to know each one of you this year.  I will be living, working, and relaxing with you in North Hall.  Additionally, I will be organizing activities, both social, volunteer, and academic.  For example, please consider volunteering for food distribution at the refugee center or attending one of my events organized through the student engagement center.   I am here to help you, if you need advice, a hand moving heavy furniture or my recipe for green papaya salad (or anything else) please do not hesitate to reach out.  My email is joseph.french@unco.edu or you can find me in apartment 115 most evenings.

Besides being a FIR, I also serve as the Chair of the Department of Finance and my office is in Kepner Hall (1090G).  I have worked at the University of Northern Colorado for 14 years.  Prior to relocating to Colorado, I received my PhD in Financial Economics from the University of New Orleans.  I have been fortunate to lecture and research in several countries, including Thailand, Japan, Denmark, Czech Republic, Italy, Mongolia, South Africa, Lithuania, China, Germany, Brazil, and Kazakhstan.   When I am not working, you may find me out for a morning run, at the recreation center or in the mountains hiking, fishing, and canoeing.
