What is Instructional Design?
According to the Instructional Design Central (IDC) website, instructional design
has to do with the systematic process or processes in which instructional materials
are designed, developed, and delivered. Instructional designers often design, create,
and deliver educational training material in a face-to-face and/or online environment.
These materials could vary from eLearning courses, instructional video, manuals, handouts,
etc. So what do Instructional Designers at the University of Northern Colorado do?
The following graphic explains the responsibilities and skill set instructional designers
have and the services they provide for faculty and staff at UNC.
Instructional Design and Development
Your Instructional Design and Development team is here to support you in the service of student learning. We will work with you through the ongoing enhancement and continuous improvement of your face-to-face, hybrid, and online courses. As a team, we work directly with you to translate your teaching models into online content. This includes everything from the course structure to the way content is presented to how you will encourage discussion and interaction, establish methods for evaluation and measure outcomes. We provide course design and development, support and access to our media studio, individual & group consultations, the production of of learning objects, as well as Canvas support and troubleshooting.
