Summer is the perfect time to relax, recoup after a busy semester, and prepare mentally and physically for the semester ahead. Finding a balance between restful and productive can be tricky. Check out this list and let it inspire you as you make your summer plans.
Volunteer
Check for opportunities at local businesses in your community and volunteer to help. This is a great way to get involved, make new connections, contribute to your local community and add something worthwhile to your college resume.
Learn something new
Whether it’s playing the guitar, horseback riding or learning to speak a new language, take the necessary steps to learn something new. You can enroll in classes, use a how-to book or take advantage of online resources.
Explore
You don’t have to take a European vacation to experience a new place this summer. Think about road tripping to the mountains, biking on a trail you’ve never been on or shopping in a nearby city you haven’t explored yet.
Read
Keep your mind sharp with some worthwhile books this summer. Whether you’re reading poolside or listening to an audiobook on your way to work, make some time for reading! Spend some time in a novel or two before you get back to reading textbooks.
Get Outside and Be Active
Exercise keeps the mind and body fit! Be sure to spend some time outside this summer. Spend a day swimming, go for a hike, find a new favorite bike path, or simply take your regular workouts outside and enjoy them in the sun! Get out of the gym and enjoy the summer weather! Also be sure to check out the summer trips that UNC Outdoor Pursuits and the Campus Recreation is offering this summer.
