UNC Bears, we are just 7 short days away from taking our finals then we are out of here for a nice and relaxing month-long vacation. But try and stay focused on these next two weeks so you can have a stress free vacation. We might be crawling through these next 2 weeks hoping to come out on top, however, there are a couple of things you should remember as you head into finals week.
For those living in the residence halls these next few notes will be for you:
- Students are not permitted to stay in their own rooms during the break, unless they live in Harrison, Lawrenson, or Arlington Park. For those students hoping to stay on campus during the break you’ll be assigned to a room in one of the university owned houses with up to 3 direct roommates. Check in for Winter Break Housing will take place on December 8 from 5-10 pm at the front desk of Arlington Park Apartments. The charge will be billed directly to your student account.

I’m going to be a little repetitive now. In past blogs I’ve mentioned a few ways students can stay healthy, and prepare for finals. Well I’m going to give you a few more tips to help you with finals week so you can feel prepared and not too overwhelmed during the next week.
The most important: Your grades do not define who you are. Yes, it may seem like the end of the world when your GPA suffers a little bit, but you are a person first and if you need to take care of you first and foremost then do it. If you fail a test, use that as motivation to try harder next time and don’t beat yourself up too much. With that being said, that doesn’t mean you should procrastinate. Put an effort into studying so you can say you did the best you could have done. Also, remember why you are here. You’re paying a lot of money to be here. You have the opportunity to better yourself and further your education. So work hard to get to what you want.
Take care of yourself: Finals week is only 5 days. But a lot of damage can be done in 5 days if you’re not careful and you don’t take care of your body. Sleep is key, get at least 8 hours of sleep every night so you are fully rested. Choose a healthy snack over those Hot Cheetos. Stand up and take a walk while you’re taking a break from studying. Little changes can make a difference and it can all boost your brain power.
Stay organized: My favorite part of finals week is the last day when I can throw all my past assignments in the air and celebrate the end of the semester. But we can’t get to that moment until all our assignments are complete. I like to track everything I have left to do before the end of the semester so I create a to-do list of all assignments I have left, and as I complete them I cross them off. The feeling of crossing something off a check list is so satisfying. Give it a try.
You are in the final countdown. You can do this!
