“Last year was hard, I was a freshman and I really didn’t know that Trump was going to try to resend DACA. However, here at UNC we do have the Dreamer Engagement Program and a student org called the Caminando Unidos. When the whole process attempted to get rid of us dreamers, we all came together and kind of created a bond. There were other events on campus such as the DACA Rally, which was exactly a year ago, and that made us feel at home and safe. It was a great way for us to see that even though the government was trying to get rid of a program that allowed us to stay here, that we are very much supported and very much wanted and it was very heartwarming.”
