Since the beginning of Summer 2020, the Center for Women’s and Gender Equity (CWGE) has hosted a virtual book club in order to create community, conversation, and to learn more about topics related to feminism, women and gender, gender in relation to other intersecting identities, etc. This semester we will continue to host our virtual book club as we read Resisting Disappearance: Military Occupation and Women’s Activism in Kashmir by UNC’s very own, Dr. Ather Zia! Throughout the semester we will post blogs for those who are unable to attend book club meeting times, but want to keep up as we read as well as engage with folx on our social media about the book. So if you haven't already make sure to follow us on our social media to stay up-to-date and engage with us!
Our first event for the semester will be our Book Club Kickoff! Register for our book club today to join us Wednesday, January 27 from 11a.m.-12 p.m. for our book club kickoff to learn more about the book and discuss meeting times.
No prior reading is required for this event.
Need access to the book? Check out the various places we have found to access it on our website. The CWGE is also providing a free copy of the book to UNC affiliated folx, so please register to access your copy.
Stay up-to-date with the conversations.
Not only will we be reading this amazing book, all persons participating in the book club will have a chance to attend an exclusive event where they can meet the author and ask questions. Check out our website and social media to stay up-to-date on details regarding this event!
