Center for Women's and Gender Equity Spring 2021 Book Club Kickoff
Since the beginning of Summer 2020, the Center for Women's and Gender Equity has hosted a virtual book club in order to create community, conversation, and to learn more about topics related to feminism, women and gender, gender in relation to other intersecting identities, etc. This semester we will continue to host our virtual book club as we read "Resisting Disappearance: Military Occupation and Women’s Activism in Kashmir" by UNC’s very own Dr. Ather Zia!

Dr. Jill Biden is a Doctor: An Intersectional Conversation
On December 11, 2020, an Opinion article was published in the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) titled, “Is There a Doctor in the White House? Not if You Need an M.D.” Writer Joseph Epstein requested that Dr. Jill Biden drop the prefix “Dr.” because not only does it sound fraudulent, but comedic as well. In a mere eight paragraphs, hurt was created. And yet, an outpouring of support followed. This blog provides an opportunity to process your own experience while holding space for an intersectional conversation.
