Tuition Grant to Teachers

The Department of Geography & GIS at the University of Northern Colorado will host a one day workshop on Geography in the Social Studies. It will take place in the Spring of 2017 on the UNC Campus. This special event gives priority to secondary social studies teachers in the rural districts of Colorado’s eastern plains, though all districts are welcome to apply. This workshop is open to 15 people.

Workshop Topics

  • The Geographic Domain: space, scale, regions, and maps
  • Earth’s environments and Resources: the natural world and the resources people use
  • Population and Migration
  • Culture and Politics in Geography
  • Urbanization and Economics
  • GIS (of course!)

Additional Information

  • Grant will pay for your sub ($120 maximum), but your district would pay for your transportation
  • Workshop includes lunch
  • Teachers accepted will be given $400 in tuition assistance ($100 per graduate course) towards a graduate certificate in geography education. Learn more about the program >
