Environmental and Sustainability Studies is an interdisciplinary program spanning a broad range of disciplines, reflecting a wide array of approaches to analyzing complex problems in environmental studies and sustainability. Its focus on interconnected issues of sustainability can lead to, and complement, any number of career paths.

Geography & GIS

Geographic Information Science (GIS)

One of the fastest growing areas in geography, GIS is a system of computer hardware and software that stores, displays, analyzes, and maps geographic information. 

Global and Area Studies

Global and Area Studies is ideal for students interested in globalization and its impacts on environments, cultures and economies.

Secondary Teaching

Upon successful completion of this program and the requirements of the Professional Teacher Education Program (PTEP), students will qualify to be licensed to teach social studies at the secondary level (grades 7-12).

Graduate Programs

Geography Education Certificate

The certificate provides K-12 in-service teachers with a graduate-level foundation of the geography discipline. Teachers develop publishable instructional units from the concepts presented in the courses and conduct professional development workshops for colleagues. 

Geographic Information Science Certificate

The graduate certificate program in Geographic Information Science (GISci) will develop and improve your technical skills and proficiency in geospatial technology and immediately prepare you for the workplace. All courses will focus on applying the skills to independent projects and implementing best practices in geospatial technology.
