Campaign for UNC Priorities

It's about making our future

UNC is thriving. We’re more diverse than ever before. Our community is rapidly growing and increasingly engaged. And talented Bears are making an impact around the globe. So, why launch the Campaign for UNC? Why now?

UNC faces a challenging new reality. State funding for public universities is declining with no expectation of recovery to preexisting levels. Rapidly advancing technologies require continuous improvements and adaptation, which are often costly. And recruitment of talented students and top faculty is increasingly competitive.

UNC's donor community has the power to reverse this trend and chart a positive, innovative future for our university. From the individuals whose contributions to student scholarships ensure access and affordability; to the faculty and research endowments that create a future full of new ideas - we have already begun to see the difference that our donors can make and it is inspiring.

The Campaign for UNC is our first-ever comprehensive, university-wide fundraising effort. Spanning three years and with a goal of raising $45 million, the Campaign for UNC invites donors to focus their investment into five fundamental priorities, each necessary to build the future of our university.

Life-Changing Education

For students and families, scholarships can provide the financial relief they need for college to become a reality, not just a dream. Scholarships can help attract students from under-represented populations and help more students complete a degree. Scholarships are also necessary to recruit talented students, helping UNC maintain excellence in academics, arts and athletics.

Campus Commons

Building Student Success

The new Campus Commons will house an integrated student support hub designed to help students set a clear path to graduation and eliminate barriers to success. This innovative facility will be a singular gateway to the heart of UNC, providing a central home for campus visitors and modern performance and gallery space for our world-class arts programs.

Faculty Development

excellence in Teaching

Our beloved faculty are key to the transformative educational experience at UNC. Faculty support helps UNC to continue to recruit and retain top faculty members and gives current faculty opportunity to maintain leading knowledge and innovative teaching methods.

Strengthening and growing opportunities

Distinction in education includes a variety of student experiences in and out of the classroom. Support for UNC’s unique array of programs helps students flourish as responsible citizens in a dynamic, diverse and global society.

Unparalleled Learning for faculty and students

UNC faculty connect innovative teaching with relevant research for a passionately different approach to education for our students. Support for student and faculty research helps prepare students for their future careers by giving them experience and access that is uncommon at other universities.
