SUMMARY:Institute for Creative Teaching
DESCRIPTION:The 2026 Institute for Creative Teaching (ICT) is intended to provide a place of safety\, kindness\, and acceptance for us all to take time to replenish\, to allow the influx of healing new ideas\, and to experience the power that comes from making and being listened to. You’ll be joined by keynote speakers Danielle SeeWalker and Eiko Otake\, alongside other teaching artists and practitioners who will lead you through this restorative hands-on experience. \n\n\n\n\nThis program is open to educators of all subject areas and grade levels. Participants will earn up to 21 hours toward educator re-licensure and will have the option of registering for 1 continuing education graduate credit from UNC for a small additional fee. The final deadline to apply is May 26th. \n2026 Theme: How do the arts heal what is injured\, repair what is broken\, restore what is lost\, and provide spaces for well-being? How can the practices of artmaking  also serve as processes of healing ? How can the care we offer to students be extended to ourselves\, our communities\, our nation\, and our planet?

SUMMARY:Concerts Under the Stars: Trash Cat
DESCRIPTION:Grab your lawn chairs and pack a picnic for an unforgettable evening of music under the open sky! Concerts Under the Stars is a free concert series that welcomes a diverse lineup of musicians to UNC Garden Theatre on Tuesdays in July. This Greeley summer tradition is hosted by the UNC School of Music. \n\nTrash Cat uses their music to ride a see-saw between tender-heartedness and absurdity inspired by their favorite cartoons and pop culture. They are a quirky combo personally and instrumentally\, consisting of Mary Claxton on electric ukulele\, Hayden Farr on baritone saxophone\, and Brian Claxton on drums. Trash Cat loves to make their audiences dance\, smile\, and hug their inner child. Formed in 2018\, Trash Cat has played for a variety of venues such as Indie 102.3\, O’Dell Brewing\, Greeley Friday Fest\, and the Flying V Sessions at Wolverine Farms. Their style is at home in a club\, singing books at an elementary school\, and even conventions like Fort Collins Comic Con and the VINCON Vintage Video Game Convention. Trash Cat is also the musical voice behind Little Roar and His Big Family\, a preschool cartoon celebrating diversity in families.
