M.A. Higher Education, University of Denver (2010)
Matthew is the Associate Director of Alumni Relations and you will be hard-pressed to meet a UNC Bear with more blue and gold spirit. Matthew joined the team in September 2013, bringing with him a background in student affairs administration. It is a perspective that helps him appreciate the lifelong relationship that alumni have with their alma mater. The turn in Matthew’s career toward advancement was a bit like the turn you take while driving north on Highway 85. If you're an alum and drove it, then you'll know it. That point, just north of Gilcrest when the highway bends and you see your first glimpse of Lawrenson and Turner in the distance, it's at that point that you get the feeling of "coming home.”
As an alumnus, current doctoral student, Team UNC donor and avid Bears fan, expect to see him anywhere from the Judy Farr Center to McKee, from the UC to Nottingham Field. But also expect to see him behind every UNC Alumni Association Facebook post, tweet and mention because Matthew manages the Alumni Association's digital engagement and social media. He also oversees alumni partnership programs with athletics and the growing Bear Network of regional volunteers.
My favorite place on campus is Nottingham Field on a home football Saturday in the early morning before much of the activity has begun. There is just something about the anticipation and electricity that fills the air. It is so nice to have that back at UNC!
