Masters Intern

Education

My journey as a mental health practitioner began as a technician in a Crisis Stabilization Unit. With an undergraduate in Psychology, I worked alongside a multi-disciplinary team and gained firsthand experience serving individuals coping through some of their most challenging moments. I began graduate studies in clinical mental health counseling and am currently in my final semester completing my internship phase here at the University of Northern Colorado.

Current Roles

As a master’s intern, I work one-on-one with individuals, in groups as a co-facilitator or process observer, as an intake counselor, and with students who utilize our quick-access appointments. I also have the role of a supervisee which means I consult with various licensed clinicians and doctoral interns throughout the week to grow as a counselor and ensure those I serve are fully supported in their journey.

Therapeutic Approach

I seek to create a collaborative therapeutic environment where students feel comfortable, authentic, and able to share openly. I believe that part of the therapeutic process is gaining insight into ourselves as unique individuals who are in a gradual and constant state of change. I recognize that the perception of ourselves, others, and reality is often contained within the stories we tell—and that stories are powerful. As we gain insight into ourselves, we may notice conflicting or noncommunicating parts who, through compassion and curiosity, can realign with our truest self; this can bring a sense of relief and wholeness to our lives. My desire is to help students grow in their experience of agency, community, and internal well-being.

About Me

I am a lover of wisdom. Be it a book, podcast, or conversation, I glean and grow from the life wisdom of others. I stay physically active through the medium of dance and take joy in consuming nourishing foods. When I have free time, I spend it with cherished friends, reading and writing in coffee shops, and listening to music.
