COVID-19: News and Campus Updates

UNC COVID-19 Information

The University of Northern Colorado is actively monitoring the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation and providing regular updates to the UNC community on this website.

Due to the extremely low amount of COVID-19 transmission and high vaccination rates within our university community, and in line with CDC guidance, individuals no longer need to report exposures, symptoms or positive tests. This means the university is no longer performing contact tracing or placing individuals in quarantine or isolation. We will continue to monitor COVID-19 transmission within our community and reevaluate this decision as necessary.

  • confirmed positive case is when a student or employee receives a positive COVID-19 test result from a rapid antigen test (e.g. over-the-counter Binax test) or a molecular PCR test (I.e. nasal swab test performed at a testing site).
  • Exposure is defined as being within six feet of a person who tested positive for COVID-19 for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period. It is not considered an exposure in a classroom setting if everyone was wearing a mask.

COVID-19 cases are now handled similarly to other illnesses for those who need assistance or accommodations:

If you live with a roommate(s) and one of you tests positive for COVID-19, follow the CDC's quarantine and isolation guidelines and quarantine or isolate at home or in your room, if necessary. Keep your distance, wear a mask and clean high-touch surfaces such as remote controls, sinks and doorknobs. The university is no longer providing temporary places for quarantine or isolation of sick or exposed people, or for healthy people who want to be separated from a sick roommate.
