Colorado Substitute Stipend

The Colorado Department of Education, in partnership with the Colorado Center for Rural Education at the University of Northern Colorado, are pleased to announce the availability of a $300 stipend that can be used to reimburse a variety of costs associated with obtaining a substitute authorization.

Individuals with a valid 1-year, 3-year, 5-year, or 2020-21 Substitute Authorization from CDE may qualify for the stipend upon meeting eligibility requirements detailed below.

Eligibility Requirements

1) Obtain a valid Colorado substitute authorization.
2) Register and attend a FREE, virtual Substitute Boot Camp.
3) Work a minimum of one day as a substitute in ANY of Colorado's 178 school districts (yes, even non-rural districts),BOCES, charter, or approved facility school.

Once the eligibility requirements are met, individuals should complete the Substitute
Certification Form in cooperation with an authorized school representative and a 
W-9.

Submit both the Substitute Certification Form and W-9  to the Center for Rural Education using one of the
following options:
