Spanish Course in Cuzco, Peru

This course is designed to provide students with an experiential learning abroad in Spanish language and culture that will complement the learning they get through textbooks, hand-outs, films & discussions. This study abroad course will improve their skills and appreciation of another country’s cultures and languages, in order to become a more responsible and active participant in our diverse and global society.

Eligibility

Current undergraduate UNC students can register for this course. You must have 24 credit hours completed by the time of departure with a minimum GPA of 2.5, and a clean disciplinary record at UNC. Spots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis for eligible applicants.

Current UNC graduate and non-degree seeking graduate students can register for this course. Non-degree seeking graduate status refers to a student who has at least a Bachelor's degree and has either applied to our Graduate School and not yet been admitted or is wanting to take classes but not pursue a degree. 

Remember, if you are non-degree seeking student you are not eligible for Financial Aid.

Costs

$400 deposit paid to UNC and due with application. Non-refundable unless application is denied or course is canceled. 

$4,220 paid to UNC and due with summer semester tuition. These UNC billed costs include tuition for 3 credits, excursions, most meals, homestays in Peru, in-country transportation, insurance, admin fees.

Total UNC Tuition and Fees: $4,620

Other costs, not billed by UNC are estimates and will vary by person and are purchased individually:  

  • Airfare: $1,600
  • Some meals: $100
  • Miscellaneous (expenses related to non-class/free days): $300
  • Passport: $135

Total other costs (estimated): $2,135

Billing

You will be billed for the remaining program cost around the beginning of the academic term in which the course is delivered.

Any course material costs are assessed and paid separately.
