Political Science Course in Berlin, Germany

This course will introduce students to the politics and society of Germany from the early twentieth century through the present. We begin with World War I and the creation of the Weimar Republic then we continue with the history of Nazi Germany, the reality of divided Germany in the post-World War II era, the fall of communism and reunified Germany, and end with developments in Germany today.

The course is designed as a survey covering about a century of German history, politics and society, which will allow students to gain an overview while taking advantage of the plethora of resources, including museums, city tours and guest speakers, available in the fascinating and important city of Berlin.

Eligibility

Current UNC students can register for this course. If you are not seeking a degree at UNC, but have earned a GED or high school diploma, you may take this course for personal interset or to transfer to another university. As a non-degree seeker you are not eligible for Financial Aid.

Costs 

$450 depositpaid to UNC and due with application. Non-refundable unless application is denied or course is canceled. 

$3,410 paid to UNC and due with summer semester tuition. These UNC billed costs include tuition (for 3 credits) admin fees, excursions, lodging, in-country transport and insurance.  

Total UNC Tuition and Fees: $3,860

Other costs, not billed by UNC are estimates and will vary by person and are purchased individually:  

  • Airfare: $1,200 
  • Meals (estimated): $500 
  • AIFS damage deposit: $125 (refundable and paid directly to AIFS)
  • Passport: $135

Total other costs (estimated): $31,960

Billing

You will be billed for the remaining program cost around the beginning of the academic term in which the course is delivered.

Any course material costs are assessed and paid separately.
