How to Apply
All applicants must be in good academic and disciplinary standing at UNC in order to go abroad. Also, you must meet the eligibility requirement of the individual program. You must have a minimum of 24 university-level credits completed by the time you go abroad with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
After meeting with a UNC study abroad peer advisor for a general information session and with a study abroad advisor to discuss your academic and personal goals for study, student teaching, or interning abroad, you can apply to a program. The process varies slightly depending on the type of program: UNC Exchange, ISEP Exchange/Direct enroll, faculty-led or UNC affiliated program.

Study Abroad/Exchange Administration Fee
All students who participate in a program offered through the Study Abroad & Exchange Office at UNC pay an administrative fee that directly supports the study abroad operation within the Center for International Education at UNC.
The administrative fee is $330 per semester for all semester programs. The fee for ISEP Exchange/Direct-enroll programs is $200. The charge for faculty-led programs, non-credit bearing internships, and international student teaching is $150. The Study Abroad/Exchange Administrative charge is billed to the student's UNC account for each term he/she is abroad.
Students who apply to a study abroad program will still be charged a $30 fee through their UNC account. If you withdraw after the study abroad deadline, you will be charged $330 Administration fee. Similarly, if a student applies to a study abroad program and is not accepted, the student will only be charged the $30 nonrefundable portion of the fee. These policies do not apply to faculty-led programs.
