Information for UNC Faculty
Education Abroad at UNC provides academic and logistical support for international projects for departments, faculty and staff and students at our university. Together we are able to offer students transformative experiences that will last a lifetime and change the way they think forever. The Education Abroad & Exchange Office stands committed to providing assistance for a successful experience for all.
The Education Abroad program wants to collaborate with faculty and staff members with ideas for international opportunities for students. We are here to assist faculty with:
- Program Development
- Student Advising
- Health & Safety Planning
- Transfer Credit Articulations
- Program Marketing
- Choosing customized faculty-led program providers
Want to promote study abroad opportunities to your students? Reach out and let us know!
We are happy to visit your classroom to share scholarship and program information. We can be program or subject specific, or provide general information on studying abroad, the process, and upcoming deadlines.
Any faculty member interested in teaching a course overseas should contact the Director of Education Abroad to schedule an initial meeting to discuss what a faculty-led experience entails as well as program planning and logistics, such as:
- Making your faculty-led program a reality
- Program develop guidelines
- More about the proposal process
- Learn about potential scholarships for students
- Learn how Extended Campus can assist with creating a budget and building a course in banner
The Education Abroad Office and Extended Studies are committed to helping you understand the Faculty-Led experience so we offer a Faculty Forum every semester through CETL to help you get prepared to plan and implement your study abroad program with the UNC community.
Proposals for faculty-led programs must be submitted 8-12 months in advance. By completing the information requested in the links above, you are submitting a proposal for a faculty-led program whose development and administration is supported by the UNC Education Abroad and Extended Campus offices.
Once you have submitted the information requested to the Education Abroad Office, the proposal will be sent to the sponsoring department chair and sponsoring college dean to review and approve.
