In light of Campus closure and as a precautionary measure regarding COVID-19, employees in the Center for International Education are working remotely in an effort to support our campus community. Staff is working diligently to respond as quickly as possible to all inquiries. The center is also maintaining the international emergency phone at 970-567-9572. Short-Term Study Programs

UNC deliver customized academic and cultural training programs with recognition from our partner institutions. Our intensive, short-term programs are balanced to maximize learning and allow time to explore American culture while participating in selected activities that meet individual needs. The result is a rewarding cultural and professional development experience.

Customized to meet goals

With open enrollment our customized programs are designed to meet the goals of participants and partner institutions. All programs offer academically excellent and cultural diverse activities resulting in a rewarding learning environment. We build on the diverse rang of UNC academic program offerings to develop short-term programs that meet the needs of our partners.  

Many of our programs include an intensive English language training component. We also work closely with international partners, governments, educational institutions and private businesses to develop customized programs tailored to the needs of our partners.

Offered Programs

Language and Culture Programs

UNC Language and Culture Programs include four hands-on workshops, elective and intensive English instruction with carefully selected cultural and recreational activities. 

Intensive English Programs

The Intensive English Program offers customized short-term English language programs designed to accommodate the unique needs of participants. 

University Pathway Program

While improving English language proficiency and experiencing American cultural, participants become acquainted with the potential of studying abroad in the U.S.

Academic Training Program

Visiting Student Program based on the agreement between UNC and the partnering institution. All courses are counted towards university credits at the student's home institution. 

Teacher Training Professional Development Program

Participants develop and expand understanding of current pedagogical theory, educational technologies and best practices in the field. We provide a wide array of instructional techniques that can be adapted to suit a wide range of classroom situations.

Professional Development for Teachers of English as a Foreign Language

Focus on equipping participants with a variety of instructional techniques for teaching core language skills at all levels of ability. Participants develop understanding of current trends in pedagogy in the Instructional Methodology portion of the program.
