Professional/Academic Experience

My name is Jamie Sato and I am a school psychology doctoral candidate from North Carolina State University interning at ESU13. I completed my undergraduate degree in child development at the University of La Verne, where I had many practicum experiences working with children three months to five years-old and completed my student teaching in a four-year-old classroom. During graduate school, I have worked with students in preschool through high school in a university-based clinic, school, and community mental health settings providing assessment and academic and therapeutic intervention services. I am extremely passionate about quality educational and mental health programs and services being available to all students and families, especially during the preschool years. My research focuses on parent and teacher socialization practices with children enrolled in Head Start and my dissertation is specifically examining teacher socialization practices. In my free time, I enjoy doing arts and crafts, such as crocheting and hand lettering; playing board games with friends; and watching historical documentaries.
