In light of Campus closure and as a precautionary measure regarding COVID-19, the Campus Recreation Center has suspended operations to help minimize health and safety risks to the campus community.  Staff will work diligently to respond as quickly as possible to questions regarding memberships, programs and services. We ask for your patience as response time may increase. Updates will be published to the UNC COVID-19 information page as the situation develops and our staff will reach out with additional updates as soon as we are able.

Hey Bears-
Thank you to each of you who joined us in our Running and Walking Challange. We had over 70 participantsin the month of April. We have heard from many and experienced ourselves, the empowering energy we brought to each other throughout the past month. I sincerely congratulate those that achieved goals and set a new personal record. We encourage you to keep moving your bodies as you continue to navigate this briskly changing world.

You did this:

  • 786 activities logged
  • That's nearly 200 activities per week
  • Most participants were logging 3 activities per week
  • 3,730 total miles logged
  • Over 50 people finished more than 20 miles
  • Over 60 people finished more than 10 miles

Different prize packages were offered for those that accomplished certain mileage goals. All mileage goals and the associated prize(s) can be found on the Running / Walking Challenge Website.

At this time we do not have a way to distribute these prizes. As soon as we are back working in the building we will communicate a strategy for prize distribution. We thank you for your patience in this interesting time.

We invite you to take this quick (anonymous) Participant Satisfaction Survey to guide our practices for future programs.

Thanks again and great work you all!
